My Bad Experience with Ticket Master

My Bad Experience with  Ticket Master

Several months ago I purchased a ticket on-line for a show called  "Shen Yun 2013: 5000 years of Chinese Culture" which was to take place on Sunday February 10 at the Boston Opera House by way of Ticked Master. Although the ticket was a little pricey (about  $85 including fees) I was really looking forward to seeing this show. It was supposed to be music, dance and maybe a martial arts demonstration. It looked like a really interesting show to attend. Unfortunately, the show coincided with Winter Storm Nemo or the Blizzard of 2013. I called Ticket Master to see if I could get a refund or an exchange 24 or 48 hours before the show was to occur. I had every intention of attending the show, except that due to extremely bad and potentially dangerous weather conditions the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (the MBTA) shut down the entire public transportation system. Not only that, but it was potentially and very likely too dangerous to drive into the city a day or two after the snow storm ended. Ticket Master basically told me I was out of luck because the show was still held. They wouldn't even allow me to exchange my ticket, even though a couple last minute shows were added due to the snow emergency.  I tried to call the Boston Opera House to try to resolve the situation through them, but the Opera House told me I would have to go to the point of purchase, which unfortunately was Ticket Master. In my opinion the legal ticket scalping agency (aka Ticket Master) screwed me over. It was an ususual circumstance, but because of the weather emergency I should have been better accommodated. I filed a complaint with both the Massachusetts Attorney General's office Consumer Affairs Dept., and the Better Business Bureau. So far, the situation hasn't been resolved, and I haven't heard a word from Ticket Master. Next time there is a show I would like to attend I will think twice before I do business with Ticket Master.

Recent Poetry in the Works

Recent Poetry in the works

  "Life is a Cosmic Joke"

    Life is a Cosmic Joke
It seems that way when you're always broke
At least you don't do lines of coke
Or waste you're time with degenerate folk
Or obsess about your latest  'poke'.
    Now as you soak
You can take a secret toke
And have good dreams ere you are woke...

  "Connive"

Some people connive
Every second that they're alive
Some people scheme
And take delight as they ruin dreams
They're eyes gleam
And while they cause pain they're mouths they beam.

  "God is Dead"

   God is Dead
   HE's not alive
Why do so many take a dive?
Or lose their will to live or drive?
It is way more than five
Who get stung in a wasp's hive
    I'm not talkin' jive
And need an epi-pen to be revived
Why do so few people these days thrive?

  "Don't Be Dour"

Instead of being dour and sad
Smile and at least pretend you're glad
 Sometimes life ain't that bad
 You'll never feel stigmata brads
And most girls aren't sluts and guys aren't cads
Greed and hubris are a fad
And there are some things in this world that don't make you mad... (tbc?)

Poetry: "Sleeping On a Cold Floor" A work in progress

Poetry:  "Sleeping On a Cold Floor"    A work in progress

           Sleeping on a cold floor
Someone's knocking at the front door
The tax man wants more, more, more
Which really hurts you when you're poor
            And the guns roar
When you're desperate enough to go to war

Sleeping on a floor that's cold
It's really hard when you're getting old
            Living a life that's bold
Daring to break out of the religious fold
Not a care about the glitter of gold
Eating food that may have mold
Smoking things that you have rolled
Living off of things you've sold
Worrying about what you were told
Tempted to jump into a hole...

Poetry: "Nukes"

Poetry:  "Nukes"

      Nukes conceived in Hell
      Can really ring your bell
      Like how angels fell
      A mushroom cloud can
      Be your death knell
      Politicians won't tell
But with nukes your soul they'd sell... (tbc?)

Poetry: "Drones"

Poetry:  "Drones"

       Flying drones in the sky
If you're a threat can make you die
Watch what you do or say
Or you might not see another day... (tbc?)

Sci-Fi Bri's Movies: "Warm Bodies"

Sci-Fi Bri's Movies:  "Warm Bodies"  Comedy-drama

Characters/Actors:  R (Nicholas Hoult), Julie (Teresa Palmer), General Grigio (John Malkovich), etc.

A brain-eating zombie falls for one of his would-be victims after eating her boyfriend's brains. After ingesting the brain R, the zombie gets flooded with his victim's memories and soon starts to come alive again. R sort-of kidnaps Julie, a human zombie killer. R protects Julie from other zombies, especially from  "Bonys", skeletal zombies who have absolutely no humanity left. R regains his use of speech and before long his heart starts beating again.  Other than the 'Bonys', the other zombies also regain their humanity and their heartbeats. Julie's dad, General Grigio (John Malkovich) is the leader of the last enclave of humanity, and is a ruthless zombie hunter, even ones who are gradually regaining their humanity. When a small army of  'Bonys' attack the human compound, the semi-human zombies combat the 'BOnys' to save humankind. An intriguing twist on the zombie genre which will satisfy males with action and females with romanticism.

Sc-Fi Bri's Books Worth Reading:

Sci-Fi Bri's Books Worth Reading:  "The Golden Door"  by Emily Rodda (2011)

In the kingdom of Weld at a certain time of year everyone must barricade themselves at night and cower in fear as "Skimmers" or man-eating dragons fly into the kingdom looking for people to devour. Sixteen year old Rye lies about his age and volunteers to try to find the source of these 'Skimmers' with the ulterior motive of finding his missing brother(s) who previously volunteered and went missing. Rye has a choice of going through one of three doors, and opts to go through a golden door. Once he enters the door he ends up going on many adventures with a young girls about his age as a companion. They end up in danger with a rhino-like man-charging goat, sea serpents, and perhaps most dangerous of all, a mad sorcerer-king who must sacrifice a bunch of innocents in order to continue to survive. Eventually Rye comes across his brother and with the help of magic and bravery, he attempts to save both his sibling and his female companion from a horrible fate. This book reminded me in several ways of the Harry Potter series. I enjoyed this novel much more than I expected to. If there are any sequels to "The Golden Door" I would definitely make the time to read them.

More Recent Poetry

Poetry:  "Don't Get Caught"  A work in progress

Don't get caught if you do wrong
You better hide your water bong
Beware though that the smell is strong
You couldn't hide it from King Kong...

         "Fender"

Hurt his gender with his Fender
He played guitar for Legal Tender
Not a borrower or a lender
He makes strong drinks with his own blender
Brought his boots to a shoe mender
Girls he'd pay for services rendered
And got his food from a street vender...
