Sci-Fi Bri's Movies: "Skyline"

Sci-Fi Bri's Movies: "Skyline"

Character(s)/Actor(s): Jarred (Eric "Haven" Balfour), Terry (Donald "Scrubs" Faisson), etc.

Soon after attending a wild soiree on the top floor of a highrise penthouse, all kinds of bright lights cascade from the sky. A large-scale extra-terrestrial attack is underway in the city of Los Angeles and presumably in other major cities as well. At first, hungover partygoers don't know what the hell is going on, but the bleary-eyed revelers quickly realize that they are in mortal danger with almost nowhere to hide from the flying menace above. There are relatively small squid-like automatons with metallic tentacles, large 'brains', and vagina-like mouths; there are dinosaur-sized bipeds with large claw-like 'hands', and large spaceships raining down destruction on any and all humans, fighter planes, and many buildings. Nowhere seems safe from their probing tentacles and laser-like lures. Also, captured humans seem to serve as batteries for these robot-like creatures. This movie was like "The War of the Worlds" on steroids. The dialogue perhaps wasn't its strong suit, but in a movie like this the awesome special effects are the real star of the film. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.
